Aerial Cables

Aerial Cables are often used for telecommunication networks or power transfers with voltages less than 1000 volts. Aerial cable with voltages of up to 69,000 volts has since been constructed for the supply of fields, waterworks, transmitters, and other facilities located outside of urban areas. Because of the difficulties in insulating such high voltage wire, aerial cables are seldom used in transmitting circuits. The Electric Power Institute has been collaborating with utility providers to produce superior insulating technologies due to the demonstrated durability advantages of insulated Aerial Cables over the conventional air insulated wire.
